The organic food industry is still in its developing stages in South Africa. When you buy organic food from either an exclusively organic shop or from a retailer that offers an organic option, you are contributing to the increase in demand for organically grown food. Organic farming systems use environmentally-sound methods to control weeds and pests and naturally maintain and replenish the fertility of the soil. Food is grown without chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilisers. This is good for the health of our planet and ultimately our bodies. Having organic foods delivered to your doorstep is a good way to start supporting a healthier way of eating. Small scale organic box schemes are offered across South Africa.
