| Hyundai gives some green back to Sandton with new Hyundai Sky Park | |
|
Media Release Hyundai has proven to be a dependable partner and vehicle supplier in a number of FIFA competitions including the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup™, and it is maintaining that role here in South Africa, ahead of the 2010 FIFA World CupTM. Part of Hyundai’s innovative approach has been to invest in greening environmental projects. This included securing rights to the formally closed Mushroom Park in Sandton for two years. They have now made a significant investment into revamping the space, transforming it into a beautiful and secure family park, renamed Hyundai Sky Park. Since the development and construction of the Gautrain project, the park has been unused, however due to the efforts of Hyundai, the park will once again be a green oasis for residents and people working in the Sandton area to appreciate and enjoy. The state-of-the-art park will be complete with an interactive children’s play area, a stunning earth garden, amphitheatre, giant balloon riding facility, coffee shop and restaurant, making it the ideal spot for live events, picnics and soaking up some sun in safe and tranquil surroundings in the midst one of Gauteng’s most built-up areas. On 4 December the park will be launched with an invited picnic event. Guests will be able to relax in beautiful surroundings, whilst enjoying a collaborative performance by Watershed and The Soweto String Quartet, hosted by popular TV and radio personality Elana Afrika. Balloon rides will be on offer and attendees will also stand a chance to win tickets to the opening match of the World Cup. For kids, there will be Sony Playstation docks and inflatable Fast and Furious Football games to enjoy. The launch of Hyundai Sky Park coincides with the announcement of the FIFA Final Draw event, taking place in Cape Town. This will be broadcast live on a large, open-air screen at the picnic. This fun and family friendly event promises to kick-off the reopening of the park on exactly the right note. Alan Ross, Managing Director of Hyundai South Africa says, “We are excited to be positioned both as a brand that is supporting and furthering the development of football, and as a brand that is fully committed to being ‘green’. It is our hope that Hyundai Sky Park will be used and enjoyed by the public at large for years to come.”
