Can Chocolate Make You Skinny? Plus – Chocolate Covered Fruits & Nuts Recipe

Good news about chocolate has been recently published by the Archives of Internal Medicine, and being healthy has never been so delicious. Chocolate has already been known to help in the reduction of insulin resistance, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as being a voracious free radical scavenger.

Adding to the long list of healthy properties of chocolate, the March report demonstrates a correlation between chocolate and the rate of fat deposition on the body. The end result is that those who consume a regular moderate intake of chocolate tend to have a lower BMI (Body Mass Index) than those who do not eat it.

In celebration of this good news, Rebecca Friedman from Your Personal Chef Catering, is sharing her ideas for beautiful chocolate food creations. Here is her simple recipe explaining how to quickly create some healthier gourmand treats.

Chocolate Covered Fruits & Nuts Recipe

Ingredients:
Organic chocolate chips
Selected seasonal fruits and shelled nuts
One 12 ounce bag of chocolate chips makes enough fondue to feed about 8-10 people.

Gradually melt the chocolate in a double boiler, or in a covered bowl in a microwave — no more than a couple of minutes. It should still look somewhat solid. Then mix it by hand with a wooden spoon to unify the consistency. That’s it — you are ready to dip. No need to add any other ingredients. Put the dipped fruit/nuts/etc. on a tray lined with wax or parchment paper, and refrigerate them to firm up before you enjoy this easy to make treat.
