Alkaline Eating for Better Body Chemistry, PH Levels, and Overall Health

Alkaline Eating for Better Body Chemistry, PH Levels, and Overall HealthGoing to a body and nutrition expert with my husband is one of the best things we’ve done for ourselves. What was the key take away? Warning! Turn Alkaline!

Turn Alkaline? Are we magicians? Well according to biochemists we are! You can change your body chemistry with what you eat!

Chemicals have seeped into foods, air, and water, which in turn lower our system’s ability to control the chemistry of our body fluids, increasing illness and chronic disease.

The sad fact is that most food consumption in the wealthiest nations has shifted from nutritious raw foods to low nutritional value processed foods and we need to shift it back. Now that our total biological terrain is at risk, we urgently need to do some clean up by shifting our body chemistry back to the raw, organic foods it was designed to function on as we’ve evolved.

Below I’ve listed out a quick list of the good foods (alkaline) to treat your body to often…

Overall, our body needs balanced quantities of alkaline substances and acids. Imbalance can result in health problems ranging from headaches, depression, arthritis, back pain, ulcers, and osteoporosis to minor skin irritations, and chronic fatigue.

“Most people consume an abundance of highly processed foods that acidify the body and, as a result, are afflicted with many of these ailments and a simple change in diet to restore your acid-alkaline balance to result in a vast improvement in health.” ~Acid Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health

Here is an Acidic food list:

(Please note that these are to be consumed scarcely or not at all)

Acidic Fruit: Prunes, Cranberries, Plums, (and some say) Blueberries.

Acid Protein: Beef, Buttermilk, Milk, Cream, Chicken, Clams, Cottage cheese, Crab, Duck, Eggs, Fish, Goose, Lamb, Lobster, Nuts, Oyster, Pork, Rabbit, Raw sugar, Turkey, Veal (all animal products produce acid build up in the body)

Starch: Barley, Beans, Bread, Cereals, Chestnuts, Corn, Cornmeal, Crackers, Cornstarch, Grapenuts, gluten flour, Lentils, Macaroni, Oatmeal, Peanuts, Rice, Rye flour, Sauerkraut, Tapioca

Neutral Foods: Avocado, olive, Sesame, Coconut, Soy, Sunflower, Safflower, Sweet potatoes, Millet.

The list is longer and differs from individual to individual, yet this will give you an idea of what to look for at the market. Drinking plenty of water (there are water alkalizers available too) is always important. All fresh juices and health elixirs like Kombucha have high alkaline concentrations. This alkaline diet is recommended for those recovering from illnesses that range from simple colds to serious cancer.

It seems obvious, that fresh fruits and vegetables are good for you, yet when we research deeper we see that certain foods can make the body grin, smile and jump for joy. A cucumber, for example, rates at the top of the alkaline scale, whereas lettuce falls low on the scale. So try a fun cucumber salad, next time your feeling sluggish and see if it gives your body the healthy boost it needed.

If you are off-balance then shift to an 80 percent alkaline and twenty percent acidic diet for re-balancing. Over the next few posts, I will be sharing some alkaline recipes that have nourished us back into balance.

This a pretty fuzzy list. I am more influenced by lists based on Potenial Renal Acid Load PRAL. These give a ranking which has surprises. Parmesan cheese is far more acid forming than other cheeses and spinach is very alkalising. The idea is to be informed and balance your diet not abstain from foods. For example if making Spagetti Boulognase be sparing with the Parmesan, expand the sauce with plenty of veges. Then eat it with a saald and a glass of wine. Wine is mildly alkalising.
Bon apetite

absolutely..any 'nature cure diet ( 60's phrase ;-) ' natureopathic diet will verify how much an alkaline diet assists in healing your diseases and improving health. however it is important to approach all things holistically, and we need to heal and balance our minds, bodies and our spirit for real health!
so less stress, meditate, yoga, tai chi, conscious time out coupled with good alkaline diet, happy relationships !!?? if not so, go and assist where you are needed more, charity, orphanage etc.there is nothing like helping others less fortunate than yourself to make you feel blessed and happier !
