| 1st Geothermal Plant in Vietnam Gets Approved | |

A 25-MW geothermal power plant has been approved for Vietnam. It will be the first in Vietnam of its type, and it will be located in Quang Tri Province’s Dakrong District. This area is rural and in the north-central coastal part of Vietnam. About 31,000 people live there. Hot Dry Rock (HDR/ Enhanced Geothermal Systems/ EGS) apparently will be used to extract heat from hot rock below surface level. The project’s price tag has been stated as US$46.3 million.
